Choral Director, Ross Valley School District and Redwood High School (Larkspur)
Susie Martone directs the 5th-8th grade choral music program at the five schools in the Ross Valley School District and the newly reinstated choral program at Redwood High School in Marin County. Susie grew up singing in school choirs in New York and Virginia and pursued a formal music education at James Madison University and Florida State University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education. Before relocating to the Bay Area in 2009, she taught elementary general music and high school chorus in Fairfax, Virginia. Susie has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a member of The Washington Chorus, as well as other venues with various choral groups in Washington, DC and San Francisco. She has served as Choral Representative on the boards of the Marin Music Educators Association and the Bay Section of the California Music Educators Association. Susie has presented sessions on junior high/middle school choral directing at local, regional, and statewide music educator conferences. She directed the junior high choir at the Stanislaus County Music Educators Festival in 2014, the Tulare Kings Music Educators Association Junior High Honor Choir in 2016, and the Northern Zone of Nevada Junior High Honor Choir in 2017. Susie is the founding director of the North Bay Youth Choir, a community youth choir for high-school-age singers based in San Anselmo, which is morphing into the newly reinstated choral program at Redwood High School in Larkspur. She is looking forward to serving on the California Choral Directors Association board as Middle School/Jr. High R & R Chair!
