Lori Marie Rios

Associate Professor of Music, College of the Canyons


Lori Marie Rios is a highly accomplished conductor, soloists, educator and voice teacher. She currently is Associate Professor of Music at College of the Canyons where she conducts two choirs and teaches voice. Prior to her appointment at COC, she directed the choral program at La Canada High School. Her choirs have appeared at the American Choral Directors Association Regional Convention in Las Vegas and in 2007 were selected to appear at the ACDA National Convention in Miami. The choirs at La Canada also performed at the California Music Educators Conference. Ms. Rios teaches in the  summer graduate program at California State University, Los Angeles where she teaches voice and graduate level conducting. She is on the choral-vocal faculty of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program where she serves as Assistant Director.

Ms. Rios has served as Vocal Director for COC’s productions of Cabaret and South Pacific. This is her first show as Music Director here at COC. Her previous musicals as Music Director are “Grease”, “Anything Goes,” and “Bat Boy”.

Lori Marie has performed such major works as Bach B Minor Mass, Brahms Requiem, and has been a soloist for Carmina Burana, Bach’s Magnificat, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Vaughn Williams Mass in G Minor. Ms. Rios has also played such roles as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes and Laurie in Oklahoma. She made her Walt Disney Concert Hall debut in 2006 as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem.

Lori Marie serves on the CCDA board and also serves on the Regional and National Steering Committees for that association.  She holds M.M degree in Conducting and Vocal Performance from University of Nevada, Reno and a B.M. in Choral Studies.
