Arlie Langager

With a broad background in both choral and vocal music, Arlie Langager joined the faculty at MiraCosta College in 2008 where she conducts the choirs, coordinates the applied music program, and teaches voice. Dr. Langager completed graduate course work in voice performance and pedagogy at the University of Calgary before specializing in choral conducting. After completing her Master of Music degree, she taught courses in secondary choral music education and classroom music at the U of C. While at the U of C, she directed the University Chorus,the Chamber Choir, and for nearly a decade she directed the national award-winning U of C Vocal Jazz Ensembles program for tours and recordings.

Dr. Langager also taught for the Conservatory at Mount Royal University, where she was Conductor of the Mount Royal Youth Choir. Under her direction, the choir maintained its reputation for prized choral singing, achieving high critical praise and awards in local and provincial music festivals. Dr. Langager taught voice at Rocky Mountain College and for the Conservatory of Music at the University of Lethbridge. She served as full-time Artistic Director of the Calgary Boys Choir organization, where her choirs and voice students achieved top honors at regional and provincial competitions. Before moving to southern California, Dr. Langager was on full scholarship for her doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to adjudicating for vocal and choral festivals, she also enjoys frequent opportunities to lead workshops and clinics with school choirs of all levels.
